Mediums and methods to tell a story

There are different ways to get a message across to the public that are effective. These methods of storytelling can come in the form of Radio, photographs, videos, written content, and other mediums. The art of storytelling and reporting depends on the audience and what method would dry them to partake in a report or story. Depending on the material or information, a journalist has to discover his or her audience to make sure communication is effectual and compelling. 

Still images of Fifty Shades of Grey

Prior to the release of the Film Fifty Shades of Grey, the Internet was flooded with images and videos of the movie. Images and videos appear to have been the most effective way to promote the film. For those who read the book, written content became the driving factor. The article from Entertainment Weekly speaks about the way the film was rated. In efforts to make sure that parents and children were aware of what's to come, videos and images were the most efficient method of storytelling. One can gauge what the film is about by just looking at the photos and watching the trailer. The film also collaborated with songwriter and created music for the movie. This collaboration causes storytelling through the medium of radio causing the hosts to play the music and discuss the film.

 The imagery of the tragedies and ruthless crimes from ISIS tell a message about what is happening in Syria. The article from CNN is a written report with a video containing still images of ISIS throwing a man from the roof because of his sexual orientation. The video is a great medium to show the public of the heinous crimes. Besides video and photographs, broadcasts are also an effective medium to share with the public. A majority of viewers are stimulated my what is seen on television. Live broadcasts take the viewers to present day crisis. This effective method of storytelling helps people get involved and encourage them to want to do something.
